Clare Ann Matz, Pixel electronic flow

This project began in 1999 for a performance at the Venice Biennale, in the Padiglione Italia. At the time, the artist researched the flow of energy through water and recreated a video art piece in green hues that recalled, suggested the canals of Venice. This re-creation took place within the gallery space, where she read poems by American poets. Her research in the electronic media through video was similar to that of a scientists who observes matter through a microscope. Diving deeply into the television screen the artist captures the activity taking place among the pixels that compose it. Her research has since developed following an internal evolution that reflects a growth towards light. The work here presented has an increased movement where pink symbols bloom, flash and flow across the screen representing a personal 'rinascimento'...
